QUINCY -The conditions were ideal for golf Wednesday as the Cougars and Jacks went head to head on the links at Colockum Ridge Golf Course.
Warden, led by low round medalist Trent Bates who carded a 41 on the 9 hole par 35 course, finished 13 strokes better than Quincy to claim bragging rights on the day. The Cougars had a team score of 172. The Jacks finished with 185.
The Cougars Conrad Ruge finished two strokes off the pace with 43, Caleb Caballero and Conor Haynes shot 44, Wyatt Newhouse turned in a 52, and Saxon Swindler finished with 55.
"This match was played in great weather and the course was in good shape," coach Steve Tolley said. "Each match, the boys seem to be improving in some aspect of the game. When they continue to work hard at practice and focus on each shot, they should be ready for the post season."
The Jacks were led by Josh Schwint and Blake Van Diest who shot 45. Alexis Pio was just two strokes back with 47, Gabe Hernandez carded a 48, Jeremy Guthas turned in a 49, and Victor Avalos finished with 57.
The Cougars are back on the links today when they take part in the Chewelah Invite.
The Jacks get back in the swing of things Monday when they take a short trip to Ephrata to match up with Toppenish, Othello and the Tigers.
