MOSES LAKE – Grant County Sheriff’s deputies early Tuesday, April 10, nabbed a man in the act of allegedly burglarizing a Moses Lake area business.

Deputies received a call at about 2:55 a.m. for a burglar alarm at the Smoke Shack, 4795 Stratford Road Northeast, just north of the Moses Lake city limits.

Three deputies arrived a short time later. One searched around the back of the business and saw Anthony Walker, 19 of Moses Lake, allegedly prying open a door with a large screwdriver. After a struggle, Walker was arrested and booked into the Grant County Jail.

During the investigation, deputies found Walker had allegedly broken a security camera, prowled through a vehicle on the property and damaged a door while trying to break in with the screwdriver and a pick axe. Damage is estimated at $850.

Walker faces charges of second degree burglary, second degree vehicle prowl, possession of burglary tools, third degree malicious mischief, and resisting arrest.
