SUNNYSIDE — State and local fire officials are investigating the cause of a structure fire that destroyed a Bonner County home on Sunday.

The homeowners were away from the home when the fire broke out. No firefighters were injured during the blaze, but the insured home is a complete loss, according to Northside Fire Chief Brad Mitton.

No firefighters were injured putting out the fire.

“It was a pretty hot fire,” said Mitton.

The fire was reported at 7:51 p.m. in the 400 block of Sunnyside Hill Road. It drew response from Northside, Sagle and East Pend Oreille fire districts.

“It was fully involved when the first command rig got to the scene,” Mitton said.

The home was two stories atop a daylight basement. The fire’s cause remains under investigation. Mitton said Bonner County Sheriff’s detectives and the Idaho State Fire Marshal’s Office are also investigating the fire.
