Boys track perform well at invites

PASCO - It was the who's who of performers that participated in the Pasco invite as only the top athletes in the state of Washington, Oregon and Idaho were in attendance. The Chiefs boys had four participants in the event. The first was pole vaulter Cameron Law who meet clearing the bar with a 13' vault for a 10th place finish. Lowell Kirkwood ran the 800 meter race and finished with a personal best time of 2:02.82, which landed him in 27th place. Jared Crowell who participated in the long and triple jumps. He finished 26th with a jump of 18'4' and placed 16th the triple with a leap of d 41'1". The last athlete to enter an event was Cameron Ballard who participated in the high jump, but he didn't clear the starting height of 5"8".
The boys who didn't compete at Pasco traveled to Cheney to take part in the Big Red Invite.
"It was a sunny, well ran meet in Cheney," coach Kevin Whittall said. "It was good for some of the athlete who set PR's in their events."
Some of the top performances were turned in by Sam Welch who placed sixth in the 100 meter dash with time of 11.80. Malcom Ransom (12.00) placed 8th. Welch finished first (23.80) in the 200 meter, and Ransom took third with a time of 24.30. The Chiefs Jamie Carpenter place third (54.80) in the 400 meters, Anthony Morris took 10th (20.30) in the 110 high hurdles, Jacob Anderson finished 11th (48.30) in the 300 hurdles and Hayden Wise had a personal best in the long jump with a leap of 15'9".
