Drivers should consider using other routes as work intensifies on West Idaho Street in Kalispell, according to the Montana Department of Transportation.
The construction zone stretches from First Avenue West North to Meridian Road.
Westbound traffic has been reduced to one lane as crews remove and replace sidewalks and curbs.
Starting on Friday, eastbound traffic also will be reduced to one lane.
Late Sunday, traffic will be limited to the southern two lanes of the road. Milling operations on the north half of the road will start Monday, April 23.
This traffic configuration will stay in effect until about mid-May, the Montana Department of Transportation said.
Inside the work zone, a 12-foot width restriction will go into effect and left turns will be prohibited, enforced by the Kalispell Police Department.
Portable traffic signals will go up at Meridian Road and Fifth Avenue West.
The $1.699 million contract was awarded to Riverside Contracting Inc. of Missoula. It will reconstruct six-tenths of a mile of West Idaho Street.
