POLSON — A very good Hamilton tennis team came into town on Tuesday, but both the Pirates and Lady Pirates were able to pick up dual victories and now sit at a combined 17-1 on the season.
No. 2 singles player Sara Robinson clinched a 4-3 dual win for the Lady Pirates with a three-set victory over Kim Lamar. The Lady Pirates stayed undefeated on the season. Robinson won the first set 6-4, but Lamar came back from a 5-2 deficit in the second set to win 7-6 with a 8-6 tie-breaker. Robinson didn't fold in the third set and won 6-3.
No. 4 singles player Kylee Wegner picked up a win, and the doubles teams of Audra Engebretson/Karmen Borchers and Jordan Quinn/Karly Rochin got victories for the Lady Pirates.
The boys' 6-1 victory was less dramatic as the depth of the Pirates proved too much for Hamilton. Sam Peel, Tommy Mercer and Layne Zimmerman won their singles matches for Polson and the doubles teams swept.
Ian Laimbeer and Will Davey won in three sets, 7-5, 6-7 (7-5) and 6-4.
