COEUR d'ALENE - The Coeur d'Alene Police Department said Wednesday some local thieves have been hitting the gym.
Though not stopping to hit the weights or ride an exercise bike, thieves or a thief walked into two area gyms and stole keys and wallets from men's locker rooms.
With vehicle keys in hand, the thieves got into victims' vehicles.
Police released to the media surveillance camera footage of a suspect entering a 360 Fitness at 410 W. Neider Ave.
Police also released photographs captured from surveillance video at a Safeway grocery store in Liberty Lake showing two men believed to be connected to the theft of a stolen credit card from one of the gyms.
If anyone has information on the identity of the males, or the dark colored compact car utilized by the suspect in the video they can contact police at (208) 769-2320.
The thefts started on March 20, at Peak Fitness at 940 W. Ironwood Drive. From a car there, thieves took computer equipment and a purse from a vehicle.
Ten days later, at 360 Fitness, keys and a wallet were taken from an unlocked locker and used to get into a victim's vehicle.
On Monday, again at Peak Fitness on Ironwood, a wallet and debit card were taken from an unlocked locker.
From another locker there that day, keys were taken and used to get into a victim's vehicle.
According to a police report, credit cards Monday were used to make hundreds of dollars in unauthorized purchases.
A Chase bank credit card from the Monday theft was used at the Spokane Valley Walmart and a T-Mobile store inside the Walmart, racking up $460 in charges.
Another card, from Cabela's, was used at the Liberty Lake Safeway to make more than $100 in purchases.
