Robert E. Alderson, 65, of Coeur d’Alene, passed away April 10, 2012, at Kootenai Medical Center.

He was born March 5, 1947, in Spokane, the son of the late Virginia and Leonard Alderson. He was one of five siblings. On July 9, 1970, he married Janell, who survives.

Upon graduating from Shadle Park High School in 1965 Rob had already entered the Navy Reserves. After serving four years he discharged and joined the Army in what would be an active/reserve career lasting 30 years. Rob was honorably discharged as a Lieutenant Colonel. At the same time of his Army career Rob had joined the Spokane Police Department where he retired from with 25 years of service. He then was employed by School District 81 as Head of Security for 10 years before retiring for good.

Rob loved the outdoors and especially being out on the water. So that’s what took him and Janell to Arrowpoint on Lake Coeur d’Alene to live and enjoy retirement. Spending time with family and friends became their passion.

Rob is survived by his wife, Janell, of 41 years; son Troy and daughter-in-law Jennifer Alderson; daughter Shawnell and son-in-law Chris Engel; and his two grandchildren, Aaron and Amanda, whom Grandpa adored.

A memorial service will be held for family only. At the family’s request, memorial contributions can be made to, East Side Fire District, 20338 S. Hwy 97, Harrison, ID 83833.

Yates Funeral Home, Coeur d’Alene Chapel, has been entrusted with the care of final arrangements. Please visit Rob’s online memorial and sign his guest book at www.yatesfuneralhomes.com.
