Okanogan County is rich with great trout fishing lakes, and this year there are some old favorites that anglers will find particularly good. Popular Alta Lake, near Pateros, has been planted with 2,000 fat rainbow and 400 triploid rainbow for the general lowland lake opener this weekend.

Further up the valley new Winthrop there are two lakes that also received plants of triploids to spice the action. Both Patterson and Pearrygin lakes will have 400 big fish waiting for anglers. Near Omak, Conconully Lake and Conconully Reservoir have each been planted with 1,500 larger than usual rainbow. There are four resorts and a State Park in Conconully to serve visiting anglers. Most are just over two to the pound.

Wannacut Lake, west of Tonasket, got 3,000 hefty rainbow for the opening weekend and an additional 350 triploids weighing a pound. Families have always found the fishing at Leader Lake, near Twisp, an excellent opening weekend lake, and this year should be special. The lake was loaded up with 6,000 rainbow trout, and they weigh just over two to the pound.

Spectacle Lake, west of Tonasket opened on April 1st and got 600 triploids then. There should be good numbers of them still available this weekend.
