MOSES LAKE – The 2012 “Spittoon Award” recipient is Allen Noble, PA-C, who is a physician’s assistant at Moses Lake  Community Health Center.

March 24 was World TB Day. According to the World Health Organization, more than two billion  people are infected with the TB bacteria. One in every 10 infected  individuals will become sick with active TB in his or her lifetime.

In recognition of World TB Day, Grant County Health District honors a community partner for his or her participation in TB  control. Noble worked closely with Grant County Health Officer Alexander Brzezny,  MD to coordinate the best care possible for a TB patient last year.

“We wanted to acknowledge Mr. Noble because of his  dedication and management of a TB patient,” stated Lois Swenson, Public Health Nurse. “Because of Mr. Noble’s  commitment, the patient recovered after a lengthy treatment regimen and, fortunately, no additional people became sick with TB.”

In  2011, Grant County Health District and the local health care community evaluated and investigated 19 patients who  were suspected to have TB. One patient received treatment.
