MOSES LAKE - The Chiefs were looking to end their two-game losing streak and the familiar surroundings of Lions Filed was just the place to do it.

But Richland had another thing in mind as the visitors from the Tri-Cites stole a 1-0 home win from Moses Lake Saturday.

The loss drops the Chiefs to 5-4 in CBBN league play.

It was a hard fought physical contest on the pitch between Moses Lake and Richland as both teams played stout defense from start to finish.

The bulk of the first half action was played at the Bombers end of the field, but the Chiefs failed to take advantage as shots on frame were either blocked or off the mark.

The Bombers had one real scoring threat in the first 40 minutes of play, but Moses Lake keeper Luis Villa earned one of his four saves on a diving stop that drew a roar from the Chiefs faithful.

Neither team scored in the first half of play.

Richland's Ali Kamara recorded the lone goal of the match on a cross from Austin Herrick at the 45 minute-mark to give the Bombers the win.

Only three games remain in regular season play for the Chiefs, so the team needs to get back on the winning track to improve its seeding for post season play.

Moses Lake's first opportunity to turns things around is Tuesday at home against Eisenhower at 7 p.m.

The Chiefs host the alumni game Friday, then finish on the road with matches against Walla Walla Saturday and Davis May 3.
