The Bonners Ferry High School Badgers softball team had two close losses Saturday in a double-header against Lake City’s junior varsity in Coeur d’Alene.
The first game’s score was 5-2.
In the first game, senior Jordan Porter pitched with Kendra Neumeyer catching.
The highlight was a play made by Porter when she caught a diving catch at the mound.
In the second game the core wended at a 3-0 loss for the Badgers.
“Makenzie Carle and Caitlin Alexander were the batteries,” said coach Lauren Bartoe. “It was a tough day on offense, but they played phenomenal defense, only allowing a gap of three runs each game.”
According to Bartoe, Lake City is a premier softball school in North Idaho, having won multiple state championships in the past few years.
The girls next play in Kellogg on Saturday.
