MISSOULA — Anna DiGiallonardo should be worried about catching a speeding ticket after sweeping the 100 and 200-meter dashes at both the Big Sky Triangular last Tuesday and the Sapphire Track Meet in Corvallis on Friday. The Polson track team had 10 first-place finishes in two track meets last week and DiGiallonardo was responsible for five of them.

Riley Sampson, who has the longest shot put throw in Class A this season, posted another personal record of 52-6 at the Sapphire Track Meet. Sampson won first place with the throw and he also placed first at the Big Sky Triangular.

After competing at the Top Ten track meet in Missoula on Tuesday (results not available at press time), Polson will compete at the ARM Invitational in Whitefish on Saturday and then host the Lake County Track Meet in Polson on Tuesday.

BIG SKY TRIANGULAR

Polson showed plenty of speed while competing against Missoula Big Sky and Florence last Tuesday. Anna DiGiallonardo got the Lady Pirates off on the right foot with first place finishes in the 100-meter (13.17) and 200-meter dash (26.15).

DiGiallonardo, a workhorse of sorts out on the track, also took third in the high jump (4-9) and second in the long jump (14-7).

The Hewston sisters continued to excel for Polson. Maddie Hewston took third in the 400-meter race(1:06.85) while her sister, Claudia, was third in the 800-meter race (2:37.27) and second in the 1,600-meter race (5:44.87).

Amelia Brooks was third in the 100-meter hurdles (16.97) and Shannon McGinnis was third in the shot put (29-3). Polson was third in the 400-meter relay (53.37) and second in the 1,600-meter relay (4:28.11).

For the boys, Riley Sampson and Jimmy Bjorge both picked up first place finishes. Bjorge led the way in the 3,200-meter race (11:28.37) and Sampson was first in the shot put (47-8).

Polson had a lot of placers in the sprint distance races. Vince DiGiallonardo was third in both the 100-meter dash (11:92) and 200-meter dash (24:22).

In the 400-meter race, Zack Camel was second (54:32) and Tel Motichka notched a second-place finish in the 800-meter race (2:11.20). He was followed by Alex Nystrom in third place (2:18.39).

In the distance races, Chaz Brewer was fourth in the 1,600-meter race (5:14.92) and second in the 3,200-meter race (12:18.60).

Aubrey Woods was third in the 3,200-meter (14:49.98). Adam Schmidt was third in the 110-meter hurdles (16.99).

For the relays, Polson was second in the 400-meter (46.15) and third in the 1,600 meter race (3:40.64).

Thrower Jared Rubel was third in the shotput (43-5) and discus (129-7). Rubel was also second in the pole vault (11-0). Third in the javelin was Joe Mullen (130-6). In the high jump, Austin Ashby was third (5-1) and Bridger Rowley was fourth (4-11).

SAPPHIRE TWILIGHT MEET

Riley Sampson notched a throw of 52-6, his best of the season, and placed first in the shot put event at the Sapphire Twilight Meet. Clark Rubel was third in the shot put (46-4).

Paul McClurg, no slouch on the football field as a running back for the Pirates, ran to fading daylight with a first place finish in the 100-meter race (11.55). He was also fourth in the 200-meter dash (24.31)

Fellow running back Chris Cote was third in the 200-meter (24.21) and second in the 400-meter (54.99). Their quarterback, Vince DiGiallonardo, was third in the 100-meter (11.68).

Zack Camel placed third in the 400-meter (54.96) and fifth in the 800-meter (2:12.71). Polson was third in the 1,600-meter relay (3:43.24). For the girls, Anna DiGiallonardo posted her best 100-meter time and placed first (12.68). She was also first in the 200-meter (26.59) and 400-meter race (65.29).

Along with her three first-place finishes, DiGiallonardo helped the 400-meter relay (52.64) with Alicia Sicz, Taylor Davis and Amy Brooks place first and tied for fourth in the high jump (4-6).

Claudia Hewston was third in the 800-meter race (2:37.80) and second in the 1,600-meter race (5:44). Alisha Jore was second in the 400-meter (67.07).
