Ronald Halttunen, 61, of Libby

Ronald L. Halttunen, 61, of Libby died on Wednesday, April 11, 2012, at Kalispell Regional Medical Center. 

He was born on June 23, 1950, at Deer River, Minn., the son of Leonard and Senia (Salmonson) Halttunen.  

He grew up in Squaw Lake, Minn.  His family moved to Libby in 1964 where he started in ninth grade. He graduated from Libby Senior High School with the class of 1968.  

He was drafted into the U.S. Army on April 7, 1970, and served in Vietnam, and he was honorably discharged Nov. 9, 1971. 

He lived in various areas before returning to Libby. He enjoyed being in the woods. He was preceded in death by his father, Leonard.

Survivors include his mother Senia Halttunen, Libby; two sisters Judy Rebo and Janet Fontaine, both of Libby; and two nieces and nephews.

Private family services are being held.  

Arrangements are by Schnackenberg & Nelson Funeral Home & Crematory in Libby.
