DESERT AIRE - Two of the more important events on the Desert Aire golf calendar will come off over the next two weekends.
First up, on April 28, is the Firefighter/EMT Classic, which benefits the Grant County Fire District No. 8 Volunteer Association.
The FF/EMT will have a 9 a.m. shotgun start. It will be played in a four-man scramble format. The fee is $50 ($30 for DA members) per player, covering golf, prizes and a chicken dinner.
The second big tourney is the Desert Aire Jackrabbit Open on May 4-5. It is for couples and open entry, with 64 slots reserved for couples. There will be at least three couples divisions, and the open division will be divided evenly.
The fee will be $90 for DA couples and $140 for non-members. A member-non-member couple can enter for $115.
Both days will have a 9 a.m. start. The game will be six pack on Saturday. It will be select drive on Sunday.
The fee covers a practice round and balls at the practice range. It also covers a 6 p.m. dinner on Saturday at the Sagebrush Senior Center.
For additional information on either tourney, call 932-4439.
