OTHELLO - The Huskies started the season out with a twin bill killing over Toppenish and ran their record to 8-0 at the mid-way point. But the team has uncharacteristically lost four of the last six games to fall to 10-4 in CWAC competition as they dropped a doubleheader to Selah at home Tuesday.

"We really didn't play that well against Selah," coach Rudy Ochoa said. "We pretty much matched them hit wise, but had nine errors in the second game and ended up losing both."

Game one

The Vikings jumped out to a 3-0 led in the top of the first inning. Selah added a run in the top of the fourth to make it 4-0. Othello got a run back in the bottom of the frame and one in the fifth to close the gap to 4-2. The visitors put one more run on the board in the top of the sixth then held the Huskies without a score in their last two at bats to win the game 5-2.

Both teams had seven hits in the contest. Morgan Logan was tagged with the loss for Othello.

Game two

The Huskies Daisy Salgado was 4-for-4 at the plate with a double, and Holly Fleshman had two hits in three at bats with a double, but their efforts weren't enough to propel Othello to a win in the nightcap.

Selah got on the board first with two runs in the top of the first inning to go up 2-0. The Vikings added a run in the second to push the lead to 3-0.

Othello answered back with two in the bottom of the inning to make a game of it, 3-2. But that was a close as the Huskies would get as the Vikings added four runs in the fifth and one in the seventh to win going away, 9-2.

The Vikings out hit Othello 10 to nine, but the undoing for the Huskies were the nine errors committed in the field.

Kim Bullis took the loss for Othello.

The Huskies are back on the diamond Saturday when the team hosts a doubleheader against Wapato. Game one is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m.

Othello ends the regular season on the road in Ellensburg May 3.
