Derek Jeter scored on a passed ball in the ninth inning and the New York Yankees rallied past the visiting Tigers 7-6 on Friday night, hours after Detroit left fielder Delmon Young was arraigned on a hate crime harassment charge.
Young, who was not in the lineup, was arrested early Friday - four hours after the team arrived in New York - for a fight at his hotel during which police say he yelled anti-Semitic epithets. He faces a misdemeanor aggravated harassment charge that entails targeting someone for his or her religious beliefs. If convicted, he could face up to a year in jail.
