Richard C."Dutch" Starzman

Richard C."Dutch" Starzman, longtime Moses Lake resident passed away Sunday, April 22, 2012 at his home. A potluck celebration will be held on Saturday, April 28, 2012 at the ranch, 252 Road 5 N.E., Moses Lake. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, May 1, 2012 at Wilbur Cemetery, Wilbur, Washington. Dutch was born in Brewster, Washington on Feb. 5, 1922. He served in the U.S. Marine Corp. during WWW II in the South Pacific, being honorably discharged as a Sergeant. After his service, Dutch started competing in rodeos and while competing at the Grand Coulee rodeo he met Dorothy. He and his wife Dorothy owned and operated a successful quarter horse and cattle ranch on Rocky Gorge Road in Newport, Washington raising champion quarter horses including their star cutting horse, Latigo Mount. They moved to Moses Lake in 1974 and operated Badly Scattered Land & Cattle Co. He loved spending time with family and friends and enjoyed fishing.

Survivors include his three children, Daniel Starzman, Soap Lake, Chris Starzman, Moses Lake, Debbi Buchite, Newport. Dutch was preceded in death by his wife Dorothyin 2004, and a young daughter Deena. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
