RECALL: Let a garden grow

First of all, let me state: Please stop wasting our taxpayer money on this recall! If you are not a fan of our city government, vote them out at the next election. They have done nothing illegal to warrant this action against them.

Secondly, I’m all for changing McEuen Field to something our COMMUNITY can all enjoy — every age group, every season. I personally haven’t used McEuen Field since my older children were in T-ball (about 18 years ago)! Other than Tubbs Hill, when have you last used it? It is nice to have a beautiful green space, but what if it was even more beautiful than it is now? Coupled with a more community friendly area? Would you be for it then?

Check out “Janesville Rotary Botanical Garden” online. I visited this garden about 10 years ago and immediately thought of how a garden like this would be a perfect fit for Coeur d’Alene. Click on the “gardens” link to see the Japenese garden, the English cottage garden and the other areas. Many of these areas are used for classroom education in the summer, spring and fall. The gardens are rented out for weddings and parties. All areas are maintained by families in the community and all monies go back into the nonprofit garden. We can even incorporate an ice rink into the Japanese pond during the winter! We have an artistic, outdoor community — many of whom love gardening. What a wonderful addition a garden like this would be to Coeur d’Alene!
