Bigfork’s Oscar-winning filmmaker Gerald “Jerry” Molen opened his latest work, ‘2016,’ on Friday at Signature Theaters in Kalispell. His new movie is critical of President Obama and is based on a best-selling book called “The Roots of Obama’s Rage” by Dinesh D’Souza.

Molen is known for his work as producer of the Academy Award-winning “Schindler’s List” and other movies such as “Jurassic Park” and “Rain Man.”

The film first screened in Houston and Los Angeles with a wider opening this Friday.

Signature Theatre manager Wes Foster said it will show in Kalispell at least through Aug. 2, but movies usually stay at Signature for about two weeks.

Molen anticipates the film will be available in at least 400 theaters across the country.

Molen, an outspoken conservative, has previously stated that the purpose of the film is to help defeat Obama in his re-election bid.
