COEUR d’ALENE — The Lake City High football team will hold a player/parent meeting tonight at 6 in the high school auditorium for all freshmen to seniors planning on playing football this upcoming season.

YEA soccer jamboree

COEUR d’ALENE — Lake City High will host the annual YEA soccer jamboree on Aug. 15 at the Irma Anderl Soccer Complex.

Boys and girls will play at the same time and each match will be one half.

No passes will be accepted.

Scheduled games: 2:30 p.m. — Lake City vs. Sandpoint. 3:30 — Coeur d’Alene vs. Sandpoint. 4:10 — Lake City vs. Post Falls. 5 — Coeur d’Alene vs. Post Falls.

Northwest Wildfire softball team seeks committed players for next season

The Northwest Wildfire softball team is looking for players that are committed to playing travel softball.

Both the 12-and under and 14U teams will hold a mini-camp and tryouts on Aug. 11 from 9 a.m. to noon at Lake City High.

Cost is $20 with instruction from Division 1 and high school athletes.

NIC golfer qualifies for USGA Amateur tournament

Returning North Idaho College golfer Taylor Reed shot a two-round 144 to win a USGA Amateur qualifier in Jackson Hole, Wyo.

Reed shot an even-par 72 in both rounds to win the event by one stroke and advance to the USGA Amateur Aug. 13-19 at the Cherry Hill Country Club in Colorado.

Reed will be a sophomore in the fall.

Sanders named to AFL All-Ironman list

SPOKANE — Spokane Shock defensive back and kick return specialist Terrance Sanders has been named to the AFL All-Ironman team for the 2012 season.

Despite missing four games with a wrist injury, Sanders finished second in kick return average (22.8 yards per return) during the regular season with 70 returns for 1,595 yards and four touchdowns, along with three missed field goal returns for 80 yards and one touchdown.

Defensively, Sanders led the Shock with 14 pass breakups and seven interceptions and one touchdown. He also recorded 82.5 total tackles (76 unassisted, 13 assisted).

Combining Terrance’s outstanding special teams and defensive performances, he led the Shock in All Purpose Yards for 2012 with 1,883 (134.5 yards/game).

Pittsburgh’s PJ Berry, Jacksonville’s Terrance Smith, Philadelphia’s Jeff Hughley, Milwaukee’s Marcus Everett and Kansas City’s Jackie Chambers were also named to the team.
