ROYAL CITY - SHOC - Strengthening the Heart of the Community - has organized a wine festival at the Royal City Community Center this fall.

The first annual Sip of the Slope - a wine tasting event - will be held on Saturday, Sept. 22, from 4-8 p.m. The community center is as the Royal Golf Course at 13702 Dodson Road South.

Tickets will go on sale in mid-August. They will be available for purchase at Royal Excell, Mack's Mocha and at the door the day of the event.

"We are delighted that eight wineries have expressed an interest to attend," Murphy said. "We also have six of our local food venders who have agreed to prepare tasty edibles to complement the various wine selections."

Corked wine for home consumption will be available for sale the day of the tasting. Credit cards will be accepted

Murphy and Georgene Riker are co-chairmen for the event.
