Dean’s list

The following Columbia Falls area students were named to the Gonzaga University president’s list with a 3.7-4.0 GPA for the 2012 spring semester: Hungry Horse — Casey Hebert; Columbia Falls — Ariel Ramstad, Shannon Hawkinson and Sydney Taylor.

Graduate

Mary Bergstrom graduated from Pensacola Christian College on May 9 with a bachelor’s in business with a concentration in legal office administration. She was also named to the dean’s list.

A bill requiring the state to electronically verify that all foreign nationals are in the U.S. legally before issuing a Montana driver’s license or ID card was signed into law by Gov. Brian Schweitzer on April 18.

Uphill skiers need to be aware of avalanches on Big Mtn.

Whitefish Mountain Resort’s post-season uphill policy expired last week, but with significant snowfall and changing weather conditions, the resort reminds skier and hikers that avalanche hazards in the ski area’s permitted boundaries do exist.
