Fire destroys lakefront home on Rocky Point
Bryce Gray | Hagadone News Network | UPDATED 13 years, 3 months AGO
ROCKY POINT - On Friday afternoon, flames engulfed a lakeside home located near the end of E. Matterhorn Road. Numerous trucks and watercraft from the Polson Fire Department responded to the scene to douse the flames and successfully prevented the fire from spreading to neighboring structures or trees. The building is no longer habitable.
According to Fire Chief John Fairchild, the cause of the fire has yet to be determined at this time but is believed to have originated from inside the house.
Fairchild also reported that a woman inside the home at the time of the blaze was taken to Harborview Hospital in Seattle for treatment of third-degree burns on her arms. A dog and a cat both perished in the fire.
