Richard R. Torgerson, 76, of Libby

Richard R. Torgerson, 76, a longtime Libby resident, passed away at home after a long battle with cancer on Monday, Aug. 6, 2012, with his family by his side.

He was born Aug. 24,1935, in Sweetgrass, Mont. 

He served six years in the U.S. Army from 1955 to 1961. He married Marlene Theonnes in July 1956, and they just recognized 56 years of marriage on July 17, 2012. 

Richard was preceded in death by his daughter Richarda, his sister, Rose, and his brother Jimmy.  

He is survived by his wife Marlene Torgerson and his six children: David Torgerson, Wanda Dixon, Mariah Consiglieri, Richelle Vinion, Tina Jacky and Marlena Schittone, and 13 grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.  He also is survived by four half-sisters and onehalf-brother. 

His funeral was tentatively scheduled at St. Joseph Catholic Church located 719 Utah Avenue in Libby on Thursday, Aug. 9.
