The Flathead County Election Department is reminding college bound students departing this fall the advantages of absentee voting. Absentee voting allows students to cast their ballots for local, state, and national candidates, as well as state ballot issues, from their campus as long as the student remains an active registered Flathead County voter.

Students interested in absentee voting in the November general election can obtain an application for an absentee ballot by visiting the department’s homepage at www.flathead.mt.gov/election or by visiting the Flathead County Elections Office. Student voters will need to complete the application and return it to the elections department at 800 South Main Street, Room 115, Kalispell, Montana, 59901.

Not only limited to students, any active registered voter may vote by absentee ballot by filling out the same application form.

Non-Military absentee ballots will be mailed from the county elections department, Tuesday, Oct. 9.

Voters will have 30 days to complete and return voted ballots before the 8 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 6 deadline.

Absentee applications must be received by the county election department by noon the day before the election.

Students or parents of students are encouraged to contact the county election department for further information at 758-5535 or by visiting the county’s homepage at www.flathead.mt.gov/election.
