ANNIVERSARIES
Bud and Evie Oakland
65th Anniversary
Bud and Evie Oakland will celebrate 65 years of marriage on Aug. 22, 2012. They were married Aug. 22, 1947, in Worthington, Minn., at the Evangelical United Brethren Church. In 1951, they moved to Coeur d'Alene.
They are parents of Charles (Linda) Oakland and Becky (Ken) Clegg; two grandchildren, Corry Oakland and Chad (Niki) Oakland; and four great-grandchildren, Brady, Cooper, Miller and Tatum Oakland.
Bud has been retired 25 years from Allstate Insurance Company.
No special celebration other than family time is planned.
David and Beth Myers
50th Anniversary
David Myers and Beth Peters-Myers were pleased to honor their parents on Aug. 5, 2012, at the Jacklin Community Center in Post Falls with nearly 100 friends and family.
During the month of April 2012, Ray and Susan celebrated their 70th birthdays and 50th wedding anniversary in San Diego and Catalina with David and Beth. Later in the month of April, they celebrated with Ray's extended family in Laguna Nigel following a two week cruise to Hawaii.
Susan Neufeld was a graduate of Post Falls in 1960, the daughter of George and Eleanor Neufeld who owned more than 100 acres in what is now the Highlands Golf Course. Ray grew up near Los Angeles and met Susan at Fairchild AFB while she was studying nursing at Sacred Heart.
They have 10 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren with a sixth due in September. Ray worked for years as a computer systems programer at TRW on projects which included the Apollo lunar module, led the early development of the computer systems department at North Idaho College and later in life working for Vera Water and Power. He is an avid MG owner and loves retirement and travel. Susan was a stay-at-home mother through virtually all of her children's lives. Later in her life she worked as an in-home nurse, the Idaho Department of Lands and Idaho Forrest Industries. She is an avid gardener, an enthusiastic bridge player and enjoys anything with her great-grandkids.
Beth and David are so honored to see our parents in the prime of their lives together enjoying a North Idaho lifestyle. To the hundreds of people throughout North Idaho who have touched their lives and know them, join us in a heartfelt congratulations for many more years to come.
George and Nelda House
50th Anniversary
George Edward and Nelda Joyce (Standley) House, of Coeur d'Alene, are celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary.
George and Nelda are both retired from teaching.
They have two children, Laura Kennedy of Martinez, Calif., and Tim House of Indianapolis, Ind.; and one grandchild.
The couple plans to celebrate from 2-5 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 25, 2012, at their home, 3500 E. Thomas Lane, Coeur d'Alene. Hosts are Laura Kennedy and Tim House. Everyone is invited. Please join us for an Ice Cream Social!
ENGAGEMENT
Chisholm-Stiefel
Dr. and Mrs. Donald Chisholm of Coeur d'Alene, announce the engagement of their daughter, Hillary Anne Chisholm, to Oliver James Stiefel, son of Matthew and Jean Stiefel of San Rafael, Calif.
The couple graduated from Whitman College in Walla Walla, Wash., in 2006 and live in Seattle. Hillary will graduate with an M.D. from UW School of Medicine and Oliver, with a J.D. from UW School of Law in June 2013. She will do a residency in Opthalmology while Oliver specializes in Environmental Law.
A Saturday, Sept. 15, 2012, wedding on Whidbey Island is planned.
The couple will honeymoon in Chile and reside in Seattle.
WEDDING
Horton-Plante
Rebecca Leigh Horton and Kurtis Lee Plante, both of St. Maries, were united in marriage July 14, 2012, up the St. Joe River in St. Maries. A reception followed. Reverend Garhart Redl officiated the ceremony. The bride was given in marriage by her father, Ernie Horton.
Rebecca is the daughter of Ernie and Yvonne Horton of St. Maries. Kurtis is the son of Jim and Marsha Plante of Post Falls.
Rebecca graduated from St. Maries High School, received her associate's degree from North Idaho College and graduated from North Idaho Real Estate Academy in 2012. She works as a Realtor at Timber Realty in St. Maries. Kurtis graduated from Post Falls High School and works at Potlatch Corp. in St. Maries.
The Matron of Honor was her sister, Amanda Swisher, of St. Maries. Bridesmaids were Ashley Walker of Moscow, Morgan Mende of Moscow, Linsey Derry of St. Maries, Brittnie Hendrickx of Fernwood and Cora Plante of Post Falls. Flower girls were Alicia Adams of Hayden and Madison Swisher of St. Maries.
Best man was Alan Kemmis of Rathdrum. Groomsmen were Erich Plante of Post Falls, Aaron Krieg of Spirit Lake, Troy Orcutt of Spirit Lake, Larry Brewer of Moyie Springs and Gayl Watson of Elk, Wash. Ring bearers were Gabe Swisher of St. Maries and Erich Plante of Post Falls. Kurtis was walked down by his two boys, James and Freddie Plante.
Music for the ceremony was provided by Rocky Reynolds - a DJ out of Lewiston.
The couple honeymooned at a lake house on Deer Lake for the week after the wedding. They will reside in St. Maries.
Conrad Cody Funderburg was born at 3:31 p.m. June 21, 2012, at Kootenai Medical Center, to Joanna (Wheeler) and Jason Funderburg of Post Falls. He weighed 5 lbs. 15 oz. and was 21 inches long. Maternal grandmother is Patrice Wheeler of Camarillo, Calif. Paternal grandparents are Lloyd and Luanna Funderburg of Bonners Ferry. Great-grandfather is Damon Wheeler of Spokane. Great-grandmother is Shirley Estabrooks of Bonners Ferry.
