Booster BBQ
The Blue and White barbecue fundraiser, hosted by the Columbia Falls Booster Club, will be held in front of the Columbia Falls High School gymnasium on Thursday, Aug. 23, from 5 to 7 p.m. Cost is $5. Coaches will introduce their teams following the barbecue.
Sports physicals
Columbia Falls Junior High School students who need a sports physical can get one for a reduced price by showing up at the school lobby on Tuesday, Sept. 4, from 3:30 to 6 p.m. The examinations by Dr. Derek Gedlaman will cost $20 with proceeds going to the school’s activity fund.
Little Kats canceled
Due to unforeseen circumstances, the Little Kat softball program scheduled for this fall has been canceled.

Bill requires verification before issuing driver's licenses
A bill requiring the state to electronically verify that all foreign nationals are in the U.S. legally before issuing a Montana driver’s license or ID card was signed into law by Gov. Brian Schweitzer on April 18.
Uphill skiers need to be aware of avalanches on Big Mtn.
Whitefish Mountain Resort’s post-season uphill policy expired last week, but with significant snowfall and changing weather conditions, the resort reminds skier and hikers that avalanche hazards in the ski area’s permitted boundaries do exist.
