COEUR d'ALENE - The Kootenai County Prosecutor's Office said Friday an arrest hasn't been made in connection to the Coeur d'Alene finance employee suspected of stealing city funds.
Prosecutor Barry McHugh said the Kootenai County Sheriff's Office is investigating the case with the Secret Service, and both his office and the U.S. Attorney's Office will review the case once the investigation is completed.
McHugh said he was unsure when the investigation would be complete.
Former city finance employee Sheryl Carroll, 51, is suspected of stealing "thousands" of dollars from city accounts, although the exact amount isn't yet known.
Because the alleged transactions involve wire transfers and a federal bank, federal agents were brought into the investigation, officials said.
