POST FALLS - Coeur d'Alene Mines has committed $50,000 toward the dedication of the outdoor playfield at the new Boys and Girls Club of Kootenai County-Jordan Johnson Center, which is under construction in Post Falls next to the library.
"We are proud and honored to do our part to help bring the Jordan Johnson Center from a great idea to a reality for the kids of Kootenai County," said Stefany Bales, director of corporate communications for Coeur d'Alene Mines.
Ryan Davis, club executive director, said the nonprofit is excited to partner with the company.
"I appreciate the fact that Coeur will not only invest financially in this project, but will also offer up volunteers and services to help bring this important project home for the kids of Kootenai County," Davis said.
The club has set up partnerships with the Coeur d'Alene Sting soccer club, local cross country and triathlon programs as well as daily sports and recreation programs in the works for the new site.
"Needless to say, every day the weather permits, the field will be well used," Davis said.
Construction on the club's new center is on time and expected to be completed in December, Davis said.
The club currently runs programs in Post Falls and Coeur d'Alene for 500 youth between 6-18. It offers summer and after-school programs.
