PREP VOLLEYBALL: Wiggins helps Post Falls open season with victory

MOSCOW - Senior Sydney Wiggins had 11 kills and seven digs as the Post Falls Trojans, second at the state 5A tournament last year, opened the season with a 25-22, 16-25, 25-12, 25-15 victory over the 4A Moscow Bears on Tuesday night at Bear Den.

Brenna Meehan had 30 assists, Dani Failor eight kills for Post Falls. Morgan Marshall had seven blocks, Savannah Hill four aces.

"We had some ups and downs," Post Falls coach Willow Hanna said. "I think we served well, and improved from the first game to the last game. We had some new kids step up."

Post Falls plays host to Lewiston on Thursday.

Lakeland

RATHDRUM - Miranda Miller had 10 kills and Kayla McGlathery and Sydney Williams had six kills each as the Vikings beat the Hawks 25-15, 25-9, 25-18 at Hawk Court.

"We served really tough," Coeur d'Alene coach Dee Pottenger said. "Our ball control was really good, so it allowed us to be in system often, and our setters did a good job of running our in-system offensive plays."

Megan Ramsayer had 16 assists, Ashley Hammons six assists and Makayla Strand nine digs for Coeur d'Alene (3-0), which hosts Lewiston on Tuesday.

Lakeland (0-1) hosts a tri-match against Moscow and Kellogg on Thursday.

Priest River d.

St. Maries

ST. MARIES - Kathy Epler had 13 assists for the Lumberjacks in a 25-18, 25-20, 25-14 nonleague loss to the Spartans.

"Priest River just outplayed us," St. Maries coach Missy Asbury said. "They came out tough and we couldn't get a block up. They hit the ball and they just played great."

Mariah Gladden had six kills, Lakin Anxo four kills, Clarissa Stephenson five digs and Maddie McQueen three digs for St. Maries (2-4), which travels to Priest River on Tuesday.

Cd'A Charter

COEUR d'ALENE - Ruth Haynes had 12 kills and 10 blocks for Lakeside, which opened its season with a 25-13, 25-19, 25-11 nonleague win over Coeur d'Alene Charter.

"It was nice to make sure we knew our spots and to know who rotates for who," Lakeside coach Jan Mitchell said.

Francine Hendrickx added eight digs and six aces and Avery Brown-Sonder had 16 assists and four aces for Lakeside, which plays at Clark Fork on Thursday.

Coeur d'Alene Charter travels to Wallace next Tuesday.
