Immunity now!

I bet everyone has taken a moment to think about their immune system in the last few months, or at least crossed their fingers in hopes they could make it through another flu season unscathed. Many people do not realize that they have a lot of control over their health and can assist their immune system in staying strong and healthy.

There are indeed some things you can do to boost your immunity this season. Most of them are easy and we hear these simple steps all the time. Things like staying hydrated, getting enough rest, exercising and eating right. These are all things that we intrinsically "know" to do, but we are not always vigilant in seeing them through.

Even if you are following some of the simple rules of staying healthy, it is still possible for you to fall ill. Chances are, since you have taken care of yourself, your illness will be shorter lived and milder in nature. That is the beauty of a healthy immune system. Even when we do happen to get sick, our recovery is much easier and faster.

I would like to touch on a study about chiropractic and the immune system:

"One of the most important studies showing the positive effect chiropractic care can have on the immune system and general health was performed by Ronald Pero, Ph.D., chief of cancer prevention research at New York's Preventive Medicine Institute and professor of medicine at New York University. Dr. Pero measured the immune systems of people under chiropractic care as compared to those in the general population and those with cancer and other serious diseases. In his initial three-year study of 107 individuals who had been under chiropractic care for five years or more, the chiropractic patients were found to have a 200 percent greater immune competence than people who had not received chiropractic care, and 400 percent greater immune competence than people with cancer and other serious diseases. The immune system superiority of those under chiropractic care did not diminish with age."

Dr. Pero stated, "When applied in a clinical framework, I have never seen a group other than this chiropractic group to experience a 200 percent increase over the normal patients. This is why it is so dramatically important. We have never seen such a positive improvement in a group."

Chiropractic helps your body do what it does best...heal! Your body is amazing and it is constantly working to ward off invaders that could compromise your health. This season, instead of crossing your fingers and hoping to stay healthy, give your immunity a boost with chiropractic!

You have been seeing the terms ADD and ADHD very often in our recent articles. This is due to the fact that our Focus program is now in full swing and we have begun helping children and adults in managing their sensory integration issues such as ADD/ADHD or patterns of being impulsive, hyperactive, inattentive or exhibit an unexplained lack of productivity.

Chiropractic goes beyond pain

Our bodies are amazing. Think about that statement. As you do, also think about the fact that you probably took a breath, blinked your eyes, moved a limb, moved your head, focused your eyes, digested food, healed a cut, wiggled a toe, salivated and a million other internal operations. Although you were not readily thinking about all of these processes, they were going on without the need for your input. Your brain, while also supplying you with conscious thought, is simultaneously orchestrating a laundry list of functions to keep you alive and well.

How's your resolution going?

As March moves in, the steadfast determination of many people to continue carrying out their New Year's resolutions is no doubt starting to fade. If you are still holding strong to the things you have changed in your life, bravo! If not, well, there's always next year, right?
