• 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. — Craft fair at the North Valley Senior Center, 205 Nucleus Avenue.

• 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. — Soup supper at the North Valley Senior Center.

• 5 p.m. — Craft vendors will set up at the Teakettle Community Hall, 235 Nucleus Avenue.

• 5 p.m. Marie (Connor) Martin will sign copies of her murder mystery book “Maternal Harbor” in the Teakettle Community Hall. Her mother was Columbia Falls’ first librarian. Martin’s book has done well on Amazon’s Kindle Web site since it was published.

• 5 p.m. — Parade entrants begin to line up at the north end of Nucleus Avenue.

• 6:30 p.m. — Parade will start.

• Dusk — The Children’s Holiday Village at Marantette Park will be lit up all evening.

• Following parade — Santa will talk to children in the North Valley Hospital Avalanche Room, formerly Moving Image, behind the Teakettle Community Hall.

Saturday, Dec. 8

• 9:30 to noon — Rotary brunch with Santa, at the Timber Creek Village Assisted Living Center on Meadow Lake Boulevard with a silent auction, music and food. Tickets are $10 adults available at the door and free for children under 12.

A bill requiring the state to electronically verify that all foreign nationals are in the U.S. legally before issuing a Montana driver’s license or ID card was signed into law by Gov. Brian Schweitzer on April 18.

Uphill skiers need to be aware of avalanches on Big Mtn.

Whitefish Mountain Resort’s post-season uphill policy expired last week, but with significant snowfall and changing weather conditions, the resort reminds skier and hikers that avalanche hazards in the ski area’s permitted boundaries do exist.
