Members of the Flathead Basin Commission will hold a meeting on Dec. 12 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribes’ Tribal Council Chambers in Pablo.
The FBC was established by the Montana Legislature in 1983 to "monitor and protect" the water quality of the Flathead River drainage system. All FBC meetings are open to the public.
Chris Tweeten and Bill Schultz from the Reserved Water Rights Compact Commission will provide an update on the CSKT Compact negotiations in the morning. Seth Makepeace from the CSKT may also join the presenters.
The remainder of the morning will focus on FBC administrative matter and a discussion on Aquatic Invasive Species, focusing primarily on AIS in the 2013 legislative session, and initial preparations for the 2013 field season.
The afternoon portion of the meeting will feature Diana Hammer from the EPA. Hammer will discuss the Burlington Northern Groundwater Contamination at Somers, and plans for pollution remediation. Then FBC Executive Director Caryn Miske will provide several updates on FBC projects and programs.
For more information, contact the FBC at 240-3453.
