COEUR d'ALENE - First, take Tubbs Hill, Sherman Avenue and The Coeur d'Alene Resort.
Mix in falling snow, twinkling lights, silent night and firelights.
Then, bring in people with packages, good cheer, and a magical time of the year.
Add music to those lyrics, and you've got a "Coeur d'Alene Christmas."
Husband and wife team Laura Sable and Bill Wiemuth co-wrote the song that was released on the radio this week, and is the closing number of the popular "Cool Yule," holiday music show at The Resort.
"We wanted something that would make people feel very proud about being from Coeur d'Alene, being from this area," Sable said.
The Coeur d'Alene native and professional singer performs Coeur d'Alene Christmas with Kurt Raimer, Callie McKinney Cabe, and Mark Cotter, while Bill is backstage manning the sound system.
People, she said, are loving it. Many are telling Sable they can't get it out of their heads.
"It's really been amazing to hear people audibly respond to it," she said.
Roger Welch, CST director, said the song is a wonderful tribute to a beautiful time of the year in North Idaho.
"It has a real warm hometown feeling to it," he said.
Sable described the song as having beautiful chords, rich harmonies and powerful ballads,
"The thing that makes it a great song is that it's singable," she said.
Sable and Wiemuth, a veteran songwriter and musician, have co-written songs in their three-year marriage, but this one is special.
Writing a song, she said, is like painting a picture.
"It's very personal. You want to touch people," she said.
Coeur d'Alene Christmas has done that.
"That's been the most special part of performing the song," she said. "People walk out feeling proud of Coeur d'Alene."
Cool Yule is an original holiday musical production presented jointly by Coeur d'Alene Summer Theater and The Coeur d'Alene Resort.
It is performed in The Resort's newly remodeled Shore Room. The show runs Wednesdays through Saturdays at 7:30 p.m., and Sundays at 3 p.m., through Dec. 31, with an additional celebratory performance at 11 p.m. on New Year's Eve. All seats are $25.
Tickets are available at www.cdasummertheatre.com, or by contacting the box office by phone at 769-7780, or in person at 880 W. Garden Ave., in North Idaho College's Boswell Hall.

Coeur d'Alene mall owners find silver lining
Knolls turn vacant Macy's space into what they say is the largest footwear selection in the Northwest
Filling the 50,000-square-foot of space left vacant by the recent closure of Macy’s has been foremost in the minds of owner Dave Knoll and son and general manager Brian Knoll. “We tried to turn that negative into a positive and it has proven to be just that,” said Dave. The store, with a tentative name of Black Sheep Sporting Goods Footwear and Clothing, enjoyed a soft opening last week and is gearing up for an official opening soon.
