DIXON, Mont. - A Thursday night home invasion left one person dead and another in critical condition near the small community of Dixon, Mont., along the Sanders and Lake County border.

According to a press release from Sanders County Sheriff Tom Rummel, deputies from Sanders County, Lake County and Tribal Law and Order responded to the scene about 8 p.m. Thursday.

Nathan Leewilliam Calvert was arrested in connection to the attack and is being held at Sanders County Jail.

Harley Hettick, a Dixon resident, identified the victims as Doug and Cheryl Morigeau. He said that a knife was reportedly used in the attack, and that Doug had been pronounced dead while Cheryl was flown to Seattle by emergency personnel.

"Those were wonderful people," Hettick said of the Morigeaus. "They were well thought of by everybody."

Hettick did not know if the suspect had any connection to the victims.

"It makes everyone kind of paranoid," Hettick said.

The Morigeaus were staff members at Two Eagle River School in Pablo. Monday classes have been canceled.

Calvert has a criminal record. He is probation from a 2010 assault conviction in Missoula and is on the Montana Department of Corrections' list of violent offenders.
