PREP GIRLS BASKETBALL: No. 2 Post Falls handles Richland, improves to 7-0

POST FALLS - Hallie Gennett scored a game-high 17 points, Lexi Smith added 15 points, seven assists and five rebounds, and Post Falls, ranked No. 2 in 5A, defeated Richland (Wash.) 60-42 in nonleague play Friday night at The Arena.

"Early in the game we got some easy baskets off turnovers, but they have a couple good guards and started hitting some shots," Post Falls coach Marc Allert said. "Lexi Smith and Dani Failor got our energy going in the second half and we played a lot better."

Failor had eight points and eight rebounds and Brenna Meehan added another seven boards for Post Falls (7-0), which plays Chiawana in Pasco, Wash., today at 3:45 p.m.

COEUR d'ALENE - Sydney Williams scored 15 points on 6-of-11 shooting from the field, and the Vikings held the visitors to 21 points through three quarters in the nonleague game at Elmer Jordan Court.

Caelyn Orlandi added 13 points, four steals and four assists for Coeur d'Alene (6-1). Kendalyn Brainard had 10 points, Brittany Tackett seven rebounds, Sydni Parker four assists.

"Tonight our defense was pretty good," Coeur d'Alene coach Dale Poffenroth said.

Delaney Hodgins of Chiawana led all scorers with 16 points.

Coeur d'Alene travels to Mead today at 5:45 p.m.

KENNEWICK, Wash. - Madi Farrell had 11 points, six rebounds and seven blocked shots for the Timberwolves, who fell to the Lions in nonleague play.

"We need to take care of the basketball - turnovers are just killing us," said Lake City coach Bryan Kelly, whose team committed 20 turnovers. "They ran a zone, and we had wide-open shots, and we just couldn't knock them down."

Hailey Jackson scored 11 points and Amber Hawkes had six rebounds for Lake City (4-3), which plays host to Hanford of Richland, Wash., today at 4:15 p.m.
