Nelson, Winslow make all-state team

The list of Libby’s all-conference athletes is long.
Boys and girls soccer, golf, volleyball and football athletes all earned nods for their athletic contributions on the field.
But two athletes in particular earned all-state honors, and were inducted into Libby’s Hall of Fame.
Kraig Nelson, a senior converted tight-end for the Logger gridders, and Jared Winslow, junior starting quarterback, earned the state recognition.
The football team’s offensive coordinator, Kyle Hannah, said that was a testament as much to their athleticism as to their dedication.
“Both worked really hard in the weight room,” he said. “They also spent a ton of time watching film.”
Nelson, converted to tight end after starting the season on the offensive line, was resistant to change at first, Hannah said.
But after a few long touchdowns, he was happier with the new position.
Winslow was named to first-team all-conference on offense and defense (where he played as a hard-hitting free safety).
“I was glad we were recognized for our hard work,” Winslow said.
Other all-conference nods for Libby were Jason Schnackenberg, Jake Reny and Austin Nagle for boys soccer, Sarah Nash for girls soccer, and Jonny Cielak and Morgan Wilkins for boys golf.
Lauren Wepprecht made first team for volleyball, Hannah England and Mahalah Wedel made second team.
Pat Valentine made first team for football, Lane Luscher second team. Danny Leggins, Josh Bowers, Tarasik Krisanov and Dalton Brown made honorable mention.
