Marinell (nee, Berger, Jewell) Meyerinck, 95

Marinell (nee, Berger, Jewell) Meyerinck, 95, slipped peacefully from her earthly body into the arms of her beloved angles, to be escorted to her Heavenly Father on Nov. 29, 2012.

Born June 6, 1917, to Walter and Ruth Berger in Smithville, Texas, she grew up in places like Washington, D.C., and the Carlsbad Caverns, due to her father’s job as a National Parks Supervisor. While living atop the Caverns, due to lack of a local school, she attended and graduated from the Loretto Academy, a Catholic boarding school for girls in Santa Fe, N.M. Many of her fondest memories were of her experiences at the Caverns when it first opened and her years at the academy. After the death of her father, along with her mother and sisters, she moved to Southern California where she and her mother obtained their cosmetology license and opened a beauty shop in Los Angeles. There she met and married Ralph Jewell and together they had two daughters, Michelle Marie and Denise Celeste. After their divorce, she married Bink Meyerinck and they eventually moved to the San Francisco Bay area.

She was a 55-year member of Beta Sigma Phi, Past President of the Northern California Council, and currently a member of Laureate Chi and Pi Master chapters in Coeur d’Alene, where in 2010, she was selected “Woman of the Year.” Her Beta friendships were many and lifelong. Raising funds for Cystic Fibrosis, brunches, meetings, conventions and the many varied activities, kept her very happily busy.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Ruth Berger; her sisters, Dottie Wiley and Robbie Scheurell; her daughter, Michael (Mickey) DeVol; her husband, Bink Meyerinck; and her ex-husband, Ralph Jewell. She is survived by her daughter, Dennie Seymour of Post Falls; stepdaughter Carolyn Mitchell and her daughter, Renee of California; grandchildren: David (Tami) DeVol and Doug DeVol of California, Terri (Tim) Norris of Cave Creek, Ariz., and Sandpoint, Tim (Liz) Seymour of Whitefish, Mont., Brian (Kim) Seymour of Hayden and Steve (Marci) Seymour of Rathdrum; and 16 great-grandchildren: David and Rachelle DeVol, Daniel and Lindsey DeVol, Davan and Dustin Norris, Peter, Rachael, Luke and Daniel Seymour, Alex Reyes, Austin and Ross Chadderdon, and Brianne Seymour, and Connor and Madison Seymour.

A special thank you to all of her Beta sisters, both here and in California, who have been so very gracious in caring for her. Your friendships, visits, cards, flowers, gifts and rides to activities were always appreciated. Also to the support staff at Life Care Center in Post Falls, especially the nurses and aides who so lovingly cared for her; you made her days there happy and comfortable and she always said how nice everyone was and how much she loved living there. Our sincere appreciation to everyone for all you did to make her life special.

A memorial Mass will be said at 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 27, 2012, at St. George’s Catholic Church. Private inurnment will be at St. Pius Columbarium.
