COEUR d'ALENE - A 21-year-old man was beat up by three or four others who jumped him in a Coeur d'Alene neighborhood and stole his wallet, police said.

The victim told police he was walking near 10th Street and Montana Avenue this weekend when a red passenger car pulled up behind him. He heard the car doors open, he turned around and saw three or four men coming toward him, a Coeur d'Alene Police Department news release said.

One of the men yelled "get him," he told police.

They ran toward him and knocked him to the ground, then began punching and kicking him, police said. During the attack one of the men removed the victim's wallet from his pocket.

Police contacted the victim at the Safeway grocery store on Fourth Street at 12:20 a.m. Saturday.

The victim suffered non-life threatening injuries, was taken to Kootenai Medical Center, where he was treated and released.

The suspects got back into the red passenger car and were last seen traveling northbound on 10th Street.

The suspects were described as white males in their 30s.
