Round Meadow skiing closed for timber harvest
Whitefish Pilot | Hagadone News Network | UPDATED 12 years, 12 months AGO
Timber harvest activity is continuing in the Round Meadow area in an effort to reduce the spread and severity of a Mountain Pine Beetle outbreak. During these operations all trails within the Round Meadow Recreation Area will be closed to due to public safety concerns.
However, alternative trails will be groomed again this winter.
Once adequate snow accumulates, alternate ski trails will be groomed and open to the public approximately three miles west of the Round Meadow Recreation Area on Star Meadow Road #539. A small parking lot is available on the south side of Star Meadow Road at the intersection with Hill Meadow Road #2929.
From the parking lot, head north across Star Meadow Road #539 and you’ll find more than five miles of groomed ski trails on the National Forest System Road (NFSR) #11208.
