MOSES LAKE - A Moses Lake funeral home is offering residents the chance to express their condolences for the parents of children killed at Sandy Hook Elementary School and the community of Newtown, Conn.
Scott Carver, the owner of Carver Family Funeral Home, 1217 East Wheeler Rd., started a book for condolence messages, available in the lobby at the funeral home. "I think it's a way for us to let those folks back there know they are not alone," Carver said.
It's a way for local residents to show the people of Newtown that they are in the thoughts and prayers of people around the country, Carver said.
It's also important for the people of Moses Lake, Carver said. Moses Lake suffered a similar tragedy in 1996 when a student at what was then Frontier Junior High shot and killed a teacher and two students and wounded a third.
Carver also built an online book for people to leave messages. It's on the funeral home website, carverfamilyfuneralhome.com, and can be found by clicking on the obituary page.
