St. Regis Lady Tiger Head Coach Damian Droessler has set a goal for his team – to get to the last four minutes of the game and take control.

Coach Droessler calls it “win time” and in two games this week against Lincoln and Charlo, the Lady Tigers found themselves in tight situations as the final four minutes of play began.

“In both games we were down in the fourth quarter,” Coach Droessler said. “I was proud of the way our girls’ persevered this weekend in two very tight games.”

On Friday against Lincoln, the Lady Tigers came out strong in the first quarter and built up a six-point lead. However, Lincoln surged back in the second and third – shifting the momentum their way going into the fourth with a 22-16.

But when “win time” came St. Regis was ready and led by the efforts of freshman Pilar Cantrell-Field, the Lady Tigers came surging back – outscoring Lincoln 15-8 in the fourth quarter.

Cantrell-Field led the Tigers with 17, followed by Arianna Jones with nine-points and Gabby Moeller with five.

St. Regis won 31-30 and headed to Charlo on Saturday to face a dangerous Vikings team.

The game went back and forth in the first half with the Vikings leading 21-18 and maintaining that lead in the third to bring the margin up to seven-points. Momentum was in Charlo’s favor and it looked like they would claim the conference victory.

But Cantrell-Field and Jones had other ideas.

“Pilar made some key buckets down the stretch and A.J. had a steal and fast break assist late in the fourth quarter to take the lead late,” Coach Droessler said.

Cantrell-Field scored 14-points in the final quarter, propelling St. Regis to a 39-35 victory.

The freshmen led the Tigers with 23-points followed by Moeller who had nine and Ashley Cheesman with five.

With the victory the Tigers improve to 3-1, but according to Coach Droessler the squad still needs to be prepared to travel to Noxon and Arlee.

“We have to get ready for two very tough opponents this week as we play on the road in Noxon on Tuesday and home against Arlee who is arguably one of the most talented teams in the league,” Coach Droessler said.
