David Michael Staley, 65

David Michael Staley born in Beloit, Wis., living most his life in San Diego, Calif., going to high school with his wife. He served in Korea and Vietnam proudly in the Army and worked as an Operating Engineer in California for 32 years before retiring with his wife Marty in Coeur d’Alene eight years ago. He bravely fought lung cancer for seven years.

He spent the last year making lists and teaching his wife everything he possibly could to survive when he was gone and the last thing on his list was to teach her how to plow the snow, he passed away peacefully the day of our first big snow fall. He was a scout for us all and will be greatly missed.

He is preceded in death by his father, AE Staley; and leaves behind his loving and supporting wife of 16 years; his mother, Mary Vince of Florence, Ariz.; brother Joseph of Beloit; his sister-belle, Rebecca Lockwood of Sandpoint; a loving sister-in-law, Ginger; two nieces; all his “Buddies” at Triple B Gun Shop John the “Flat Lander” all his old fishing, hunting and flying buddies along with his friend “Dort” who changed his life forever. He is now with God and with all who have gone before him.

There will be a Celebration of Life for David in the spring, his favorite time of the year. In lieu of flowers donations to Hospice of North Idaho or Kennewick Foundation, Oncology Support Fund, P.O. Box 6813, Kennewick, WA 99336 are welcomed in his honor. Yates Funeral Homes has been entrusted with the care of final arrangements.
