WORLEY - Dumping was just the ending at the Coeur d'Alene Casino.

At least for one Coeur d'Alene man Thursday night.

Larry E. Burrage, 63, was booked into the Kootenai County jail for allegedly dumping his coffee on a video gaming machine at the end of an aggravating losing streak.

A Kootenai County Sheriff's Department report said damage to the machine would exceed $1,000, for parts, labor and lost revenue.

Burrage, however, didn't immediately admit to dumping coffee on the machine. At first, he played it off as a mere accident.

"Burrage continued by telling me he has a problem with his hands requiring him to wear gloves," an investigator wrote in the report.

Burrage said he inadvertently spilled his coffee onto the machine he was playing due to the "gloves inhibiting his gripping abilities."

While speaking with the investigator, Burrage held up his hands and displayed the fingerless, black, leather gloves he was sporting.

After Burrage's explanation, the investigator proceeded to the casino video surveillance room to watch exactly what unfolded.

Burrage appeared clearly in the video, lifting a white cup and pouring its contents onto the machine.

"Burrage's movement was very deliberate and was obviously intentional," the report said.

Then the investigator explained to Burrage that he had seen the video.

At that point, Burrage paused, looked down at the floor, then admitted the spill was really more of a dump, according to the report.

He said he had been gambling all week and spent $500 without any payouts, resulting in him getting angry at the casino.

He then admitted to the criminal dumping, the report said.

He said he would gladly pay for any damage as long as he didn't have to go to jail.

At that point, Burrage was taken into custody for malicious injury to property.
