DENTAL PARTY: Teens receive sealants

Panhandle Health District thanks the Dentaquest Foundation and the many businesses and dental offices that donated door prizes and services to the third annual Teen Dental Party on Nov. 29. Forty-three local teens received no cost dental sealants for cavity protection and fluoride varnish to strengthen and protect teeth. Dr. Justin Rader from the Dirne Community Health Center donated his time to screen each teen's teeth and to educate the teens about the importance of good oral health care. Kelli Burgendahl, a registered dental hygienist, also donated her skills and time.

While the teens waited for services, they were treated to a movie, games and educational display in a holiday atmosphere at the Panhandle Health District in Hayden. Many took home vouchers donated by our community for further dental services and left with prizes thanks to the generosity of the following businesses: the Kroc Center; MacKenzie River Pizza; Papa Murphy's in Hayden and Coeur d'Alene; Pizza Hut at Silver Lake and on Appleway; Domino's in Hayden, Rathdrum, and Coeur d'Alene; Wild Cat Pizza; Raptor Reef Indoor Water Park; Texas Road House; Little Caesar's Pizza; Applebees; Sunset Bowling; Baskin Robbins; and Jamms.

Dentists and dental offices that generously donated follow-up vouchers were Dr. Cheri Bloom; Dr. Michael Boehm; Brumbach Family Dentistry; Dr. Daniel Cullum; Coeur d'Alene Dental Center; Dirne Dental; Laser Dentistry; and Smart Family Dentistry. United Dairymen of Idaho donated milk and cheese to the dental party. Thanks to all who made this a fun and worthwhile event!

CYT: Fundraiser participants appreciated

Christian Youth Theater-North Idaho (CYT-North Idaho) and Kids Centric Sports Association (KCSA) would like to thank those in the community who participated, volunteered or donated to our joint fundraiser, "Spotlight on Kids" Dinner & Auction on Dec 1. The event was a great success largely due to supportive businesses and families in our community. The two nonprofits grossed over $13,000 with 77 percent going directly back to the two after-school children's program. KCSA raised money to subsidize competitive expenses for Team Avant Coeur Gymnastics, KCSA's home program. CYT-North Idaho's proceeds will go towards the purchase of technical equipment, primarily microphones for their performances.
