Ruperd generations

Five generations of Ruperds gathered on July 22, 2012. Spriggs generations

My mother Harriet Spriggs and my daughter Harper Spriggs and I, Harold Spriggs, flew down to Bullhead City, Ariz., to spend Christmas with my grandfather Maury Marshall. This was a joining of four generations of the Marshall family. Harriet Spriggs is a retired school teacher. I'm currently a volunteer firefighter/EMT at Timberlake Fire Protection District in Athol, as well as a technician for Servpro in Hayden. My daughter Harper is 14 months old. My grandfather is 95 years old and resides in the Davis House in Bullhead City. We enjoyed the holidays down there spending time with my grandpa. This was the first time Maury had met Harper.

Xavier Reese Hodge was born at 7:57 a.m. Nov. 2, 2012, to Lanay and Reese Hodge IV of Coeur d'Alene. He weighed 8 pounds 4 ounces and was 21.25 inches long. Brother is Xander Jack, 5, and half sister is Shadoe Campbell. Paternal grandfather is Reese Hodge III of Coeur d'Alene. Maternal grandparents are Susan Smith of Athol, and Dave and Kim Rowley of Liberty Lake, Wash.

MILITARY

Navy Seaman Kevin L. Johns, son of Darcy and Richard A. Johns of Rathdrum, recently completed U.S. Navy basic training at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Ill.

During the eight-week program, Johns completed a variety of training which included classroom study and practical instruction on naval customs, first aid, firefighting, water safety and survival, and shipboard and aircraft safety. An emphasis was also placed on physical fitness.

Johns is a 2011 graduate of Lakeland High School in Rathdrum.
