LEWISTON - Lake City trailed by just four points in the third quarter before Tuesday night's 5A Inland Empire League girls basketball game got away.
Leading just 20-16, third-ranked Lewiston went on an 11-0 run and eased away for a 48-28 victory in the league and regular-season finale for both teams at Booth Hall.
"We got off to a really slow start, but we hung in there playing defense," Lake City coach Royce Johnston said.
Lewiston (17-3, 5-1 5A IEL) finished in a tie for first place with Coeur d'Alene. But Coeur d'Alene had won a contingent coin flip on Saturday, and will host Friday's first round of the 5A Region 1 tournament.

Tisha Phillips scored 21 points for Lewiston, which played without injured Gonzaga signee Chelsea Waters. Phillips scored 14 in the first half.
“She did it all,” Johnston said.
