John D. Cox, 70, passed away Jan. 26, 2012 where he resided at Columbia Crest Care Center, Moses Lake. Please sign the online guestbook or leave a note for the family at www.kayserschapel.com Arrangements are in care of Kayser's Chapel & Crematory, Moses Lake. John was born Dec. 17, 1941 in Sidney, Montana to Grover C. and Norma (Helmer) Cox. Just after the outbreak of WWII in Nov. 1942 his family moved to Utah and then Arizona. In the spring of 1947, they settled in Salmon, Idaho where John spent his younger years. He met and later (1959) married Lea Davis with whom he had three children. While providing for his young family he was in a sawmill accident that took his eyesight. In 1966, John and Lea divorced.
In 1967, to be close to his children, John moved to the Long Beach Peninsula in Washington State. While living on the peninsula, he met and married Lois Preston but sadly they were also divorced. In 1995, John moved to Moses Lake, WA. to live near his dearly loved sister LaDonna and her family. In better days, John had a dynamic personality which showed while talking to his daughter. He loved to know what everyone was doing and then in turn he would relay news about his sisters, brother, and the cousins. Most conversations went like this: "What are you doing?" then "Why in the hell are you doing that?" "What is Joe doing?" "Why in the hell is he doing that?" "news from his house" and then ended with "What are you having for dinner?" We love you dad and we will miss you as much!
John is survived by his daughter, Jennie (Bill) Spain and son Joey (Jerilyn) Cox of Longview, WA; 3 grandsons, Will (Amy) Spain, Travis (Staci) Spain and Jacob Cox; 4 great grandchildren, Colton, Abigail, Izaac and Brooklin; brother, Charles Cox, Coeur d'alene, ID; 3 sisters, LaVinna (Bedford) Stroud, Leadore, ID, Martha (Jim) Wolf, Quincy, WA and Abbie (Clee) Stokes, Salmon, ID; special niece and nephew Pat Butterfield and David Firebaugh, Moses Lake; and many other nieces and nephews.
