Park trips
The Glacier National Park Fund will offer snowshoeing and cross-country skiing outings in Glacier National Park this winter. Outings include Feb. 10, snowshoeing; Feb. 24, snowshoeing; March 9, skiing; March 16, snowshoeing; and March 23, skiing. Fishing derby
The Babb/St. Mary Volunteer Fire Department's annual ice-fishing derby fundraiser will be held at Duck Lake on Saturday and Sunday, Feb. 11 and 12, with hourly prize drawings and 50/50 ticket drawings. Fishing on Saturday will be allowed from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and on Sunday from 8 a.m. to noon. Entry fee is $20 per person available at the lake. Children 12-and-under fish for free. Prizes for biggest fish range from $100 to $700 for adults and children. For more information, call 406-732-9292.

Canyon bike trail meeting May 16
Supporters for construction of a new bike and pedestrian trail from Coram to West Glacier will meet at the Heavens Peak Lodge and Resort, 12130 U.S. 2, in West Glacier, on Monday, May 16, at 6:30 p.m.
Bill requires verification before issuing driver's licenses
A bill requiring the state to electronically verify that all foreign nationals are in the U.S. legally before issuing a Montana driver’s license or ID card was signed into law by Gov. Brian Schweitzer on April 18.
Uphill skiers need to be aware of avalanches on Big Mtn.
Whitefish Mountain Resort’s post-season uphill policy expired last week, but with significant snowfall and changing weather conditions, the resort reminds skier and hikers that avalanche hazards in the ski area’s permitted boundaries do exist.
